If you're related to them or otherwise know them well you'll know that they're also just racist as hell and have contempt for women. They want the kind of strong-man rapist he is. They like him - he is what they respect and he supports the kind of country they want. Oh yeah in the focus group they'll white-wash it all, but there's a much darker truth under all that.

You're hearing their version of it in a controlled environment where they know to be on their best behavior. You don't hear the drunken rants when they think no one who matters is listening. Remember when Trump was polling terribly? Remember how his supporters just weren't being honest with pollsters? This is the same thing. You aren't hearing the truth if you're relying on their version given to you at a focus group. You're just eating up their bullshit uncritically.
